Tennessee is coming off arguably its best season ever. The Volunteers went

27-9 (14-4 SEC) in 2023-24, claimed the outright SEC regular season title and earned their second Elite Eight appearance.

Head coach Rick Barnes led this team to a fifth-place finish in both major national polls, a program best.

Tennessee has placed top-eight nationally in average attendance each of the last six full-capacity seasons, including top-five in each of the past five. Last year, the Volunteers finished fourth in the country with an average of 19,664 fans per home game. Only nine schools in America averaged upwards of even 16,000.

Additionally this off season, only 2 men’s head coaches had 2 alum in the 2024 Paris Olympics. head coach Rick Barnes was one of those. However, behind the tenured Head Coach is His assistant Justin Gainey.

The SEC conference continued this summer  to elevate assistant coaches with opportunities to expand their leadership development for the future.

Coach Gainey is one of the few that  joined Tennessee women’s basketball assistant Roman Tiber as selected assistant coaches for the forum held in Atlanta.

Attendees gained valuable insights from invited speakers that included:

  • Nick Saban, ESPN analyst and former head football coach

  • Dawn Staley, University of South Carolina women's basketball head coach

  • Dennis Gates, University of Missouri men's basketball head coach

  • Josh Brooks, University of Georgia.

  • J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics
